As soon as we bought our first house my husband talked about getting a dog. He wanted to have a dog as a pet. I don’t mind animals, but I would be fine without a pet. We look at the Humane Society. There were two dogs there that we were interested in, a blue healer and a black lab mixed with german Shepherd. We decided on the black lab mixed. Like I said I am not a big animal lover, so I said I would drive home and he could hold the dog. I get in the car to drive and she sits on my lap. We had to stop at Fleet Farm to get some supplies for her, so I figured after my husband runs in I would have her sit on his lap for the rest of the drive, of course she was very smart and knew how I felt and stayed on my lap all the way home.
Road Trip to Iowa
We started out at 6:40 a.m. heading to Dyersville, Iowa. We stop in Sun Prairie for gas. It started to rain when we got to Dubuque. The
next stop was in Dyersville, at a family style restaurant to grab a bit to eat. We were just minutes from the National Farm Toy Museum. It was interesting seeing the old trucks. There we quite a pedal trackers, I saw a Fischer Price farm that I had as a kid. Continue reading
Our first family Vacation
Last October we took our family on their first real vacation. We went to Disney for 5 days. This was the first time our kids flew. The kids were very anxious about being on an airplane. I was more nervous about driving to the airport. I am not a fan of driving in Milwaukee. The airplane ride went great. Once we got to Florida there was a bus from the Disney resort that took us to the resort. Continue reading
Volunteering

I enjoy volunteering for the activities the involve my kids. I taught 5th grade Christian Formation for about 9 years. I enjoyed students. They are so unique and they can teach you so much. When my daughter started 2nd grade I gave it up, because I started to go back to school and I did not think I was giving it my all. This past year I was asked to teach my daughter’s 5th grade Christian Formation class, so of course I said yes. My daughter thought that was so awesome. She could not wait to have her Mom for her teacher, now that excitement is gone. Continue reading
Responsibility
As a parent I try to keep my kids safe. I worry a lot about their safety when I am not around them. I would like to start giving my children more responsibility. I would like to starting having them get up for school, get dressed, make breakfast, make lunches, and brush their teeth along with walking to school. Again this makes me very nervous. I know eventually they will have to do this, but I am not sure if I am ready for this. At what age have your child taken on these kinds of responsibilities?
New Snow Fall
Hello, my name is Terri Herrick and I am a wife, mother, full time worker and a part time student. I am in the Office Assistant Program at MPTC. As a child I loved when the weather man would say snow is on the way. I would wake up with the hope school would be cancelled. More times than not school was not cancelled. If school would be cancelled my siblings and I would be planning on how we would spend the day outside playing in the snow. We would spend most of the day sledding, building a snowman, or just having fun with the neighbor kids. It seemed like it was never to cold and we would only go in the house if we need to eat or to warm up for a bit. Continue reading
